November 2022 newsletter

UYB overview

We have heard from many people that it would be helpful for agency leaders, HR business partners, and hiring managers to have more information on what UYB covers, and how they can direct new employees to the workshop BEFORE they enroll in benefits. That is why we will be hosting regular overviews of UYB.

The first one will be November 16th from 9:30am to 10:15am.

You can register for it here.

Uplift Your Benefits (UYB) enhanced schedule

Thanks to the many agencies who have centered UYB participation in new employee on-boarding programs, UYB attendance continues to grow! We have recently expanded our workshop offerings to five per week, plus a workshop every fourth Monday of the month.

As always, you can visit the Uplift agency resource page for the current schedule. There are also flyers, sample emails, and a registration guide to promote this crucial benefit training to your new employees.

Wellness Series

November 10: Monthly Wellness Series with Kaiser Permanente: Healthy Eating for Shift Workers

Working the night shift disrupts the natural rhythm of our bodies and can impact our health and well-being. Many shift workers have limited food choices from vending machines and use caffeine to provide energy to stay wake and alert. Over time, these choices impact our health in many ways. Having a plan helps combat these challenges.

Visit UpliftOregon.org/wellness for more information to register for the webinar.

Uplift OPEN (Oregon Peer Equity Network)

We’re very excited to announce the launch of the Uplift Oregon Peer Equity Network, or Uplift OPEN! The purpose of this cohort-based program is to work with agencies to enhance the equity work that will make the state of Oregon a more healthy, inclusive, and empowering employer.

The current cohort is 32 participants, and they will be attending the Facing Race conference in- person November 17-20. On November 17, there is a day-long preconference of the emerging state government network that promises to be rich in examples of how other states are advancing equity work.
